🔌 How to Hook Up Power
Power Hookup Steps
Make sure your RV's main breaker is turned OFF before connecting.
Check that the campground power pedestal is OFF.
Examine the power cord and receptacle for any damage or signs of wear.
Connect your RV power cord to the appropriate outlet on the campground pedestal (30 amp or 50 amp).
Secure the connection by twisting the plug to lock it in place.
Turn ON the campground pedestal breaker.
Turn ON your RV's main breaker.
Check that power is flowing by testing interior lights and outlets.
IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING: Never connect or disconnect your power cord while the breaker is ON. This can cause dangerous arcing and damage to your RV's electrical system.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
No power after hookup: Check both the pedestal breaker and your RV's main breaker.
Partial power (some things work, others don't): This could indicate a bad connection or a problem with the campground's 30 amp service.
Tripping breakers: You may be drawing too much power. Turn off high-consumption appliances like the air conditioner before running the microwave or electric water heater.
PRO TIP: Consider using a surge protector or EMS (Electrical Management System) between your RV and the power pedestal to protect your RV's electrical system from power surges, low voltage, and other electrical issues that can damage your electronics.
