Standard pickup time is between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Standard return time is between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM.

Late returns without prior approval are subject to a fee of $50 per hour.

How long does the pickup process take? +

The pickup process typically takes 60-90 minutes. This includes:

  • Completing final paperwork
  • A comprehensive walk-through of Frida's features and systems
  • Demonstration of how to operate everything
  • Time for you to ask questions
  • Documenting the condition of the RV

We want to ensure you're fully comfortable with operating Frida before you hit the road, so please plan accordingly.

Do you provide airport pickup? +

We don't offer direct airport pickup, but we can recommend convenient and affordable transportation options from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to our location.

Many customers find using a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft to be the easiest option. The trip typically takes about 15 minutes and costs around $20-30 depending on the time of day.

What's required at pickup? +

At pickup, you'll need to provide:

  • Valid driver's licenses for all approved drivers (must be at least 25 years old)
  • A copy of your rental agreement (from Outdoorsy)

We'll also go through a detailed orientation of the RV and document the condition with photos.

What are the return requirements? +

Before returning the RV, you are required to:

  1. Empty and rinse waste tanks (both gray and black) unless an optional dump service was arranged
  2. Refill the gas tank to the same level as at pickup, unless you selected the prepaid fuel option
  3. Refill propane tanks, unless you selected the prepaid propane option
  4. Remove all personal belongings
  5. Clean the interior to a reasonable standard (sweep floors, wipe down surfaces)

Failure to complete these requirements may result in additional service fees:

  • Tank dumping service: $125
  • Propane refill service: $75
  • Fuel service: Cost of fuel plus a $50 service fee

We offer convenient prepaid options for both propane ($50) and fuel ($200) that can be added to your rental. See our Amenities page for more details.

How difficult is it to drive Frida? +

Frida is quite easy to drive, even for first-time RV drivers. At 28 feet, she's large enough to be comfortable but not so big that she's unwieldy. She handles much like a large SUV or truck, with the following features making driving easier:

  • Power steering
  • Automatic transmission
  • Large side mirrors with blind spot sections
  • Backup camera

During the orientation, we'll provide tips for driving and parking. Most renters feel comfortable after just a short time behind the wheel.

What type of fuel does Frida use and what's the fuel economy? +

Frida runs on regular unleaded gasoline and has a 55-gallon fuel tank. Her fuel economy averages around 8-10 miles per gallon, depending on driving conditions, terrain, and speed.

We provide Frida with a full tank of gas at pickup, and we ask that you return her with a full tank. There are plenty of gas stations near our return location for your convenience.

How does the electrical system work? +

Frida has three sources of electrical power:

  1. Shore Power: When connected to a campground's 30 or 50 amp electrical hookup, you'll have full electrical functionality.
  2. Generator: Frida has a built-in generator that runs on gasoline from the main tank. This provides electricity when you're not connected to shore power. 4 hours of generator use per day are included; additional use is $3.50 per hour.
  3. Battery Power: The house batteries power basic systems like lights, water pump, and some outlets when you're not connected to shore power or running the generator.

During the orientation, we'll show you how to switch between power sources and explain what can run on each system.

How do the water systems work? +

Frida has three water tanks:

  • Fresh Water Tank (50 gallons): Holds clean water for taps, shower, and toilet when not connected to city water.
  • Gray Water Tank (31 gallons): Collects used water from the shower and sinks.
  • Black Water Tank (31 gallons): Collects waste from the toilet.

You can either connect to a campground's water supply (city water connection) or use the water from the fresh water tank with the water pump when boondocking (camping without hookups).

We provide a detailed orientation on how to use all water systems, including filling, monitoring levels, and dumping the waste tanks.

Do I need to dump the waste tanks before returning? +

Yes, we require that you dump and rinse both the gray and black tanks before returning Frida. Most campgrounds have dump stations, and there are also public dump stations available (we can provide a list).

If you're unable to dump the tanks for some reason, we offer a dumping service for an additional fee of $75.

During your orientation, we'll show you how to properly and sanitarily dump the tanks.

Does Frida have air conditioning and heating? +

Yes, Frida has both air conditioning and heating:

  • A roof-mounted AC unit that keeps the RV cool when connected to shore power or when running the generator
  • A propane furnace that provides heat throughout the RV
  • The cab area also has its own AC and heat that works when the engine is running

Both the AC and furnace are thermostat-controlled for your comfort.

Is bedding provided? +

Yes! All bedding is included for up to 6 people with your rental. This includes sheets, pillows, pillowcases, and comforters for all beds in the RV (main queen bed, overhead bunk, and dinette bed).

Bath towels and kitchen towels are also included for your convenience, so you don't need to bring your own linens.

Is there a bathroom in the RV? +

Yes, Frida has a full bathroom with:

  • Flushable toilet
  • Shower with hot water
  • Bathroom sink
  • Mirror
  • Storage cabinet

The bathroom is compact but functional. The hot water heater operates on propane and provides about 6-8 minutes of hot water before needing to reheat, which takes about 15-20 minutes.

What is your smoking policy? +

Frida is strictly non-smoking, including tobacco, marijuana, and e-cigarettes/vaping. Smoking of any kind inside the RV will result in the loss of your security deposit due to the extensive cleaning required to remove smoke odors.

If you smoke, please do so outside and away from the RV, and properly dispose of cigarette butts.

Are there restrictions on where I can drive Frida? +

Frida is approved for travel throughout Arizona and neighboring states (California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico). Travel to other states requires prior approval.

We do not allow travel into Mexico due to insurance restrictions.

Additionally, we ask that you avoid:

  • Unpaved roads (other than maintained campground roads)
  • Off-road driving
  • Burning Man or similar dusty events
  • Roads specifically marked as unsuitable for RVs

If you have questions about a specific destination, please ask us.

Do I need to refill the propane tanks before returning? +

Yes, you are required to refill the propane tanks before returning the RV. If the propane tanks are not refilled upon return, a $75 service fee will be applied.

We also offer a convenient prepaid propane option for $50 that allows you to return the RV without refilling the propane tanks. This option can be added at the time of booking or at pickup.

See our Amenities page for more information about the prepaid propane option and other available add-ons.

What happens if there's a mechanical issue during my trip? +

Your rental includes 24/7 roadside assistance. If you experience a mechanical issue:

  1. Contact us immediately at our emergency number (provided at pickup)
  2. We'll help troubleshoot the issue or direct you to roadside assistance
  3. For minor repairs under $100, you can proceed without prior approval and will be reimbursed
  4. For repairs over $100, please get our approval first

If a mechanical failure occurs that is not due to your misuse and significantly impacts your trip, we'll work with you on appropriate compensation for lost rental time.

What insurance coverage is provided? +

Your rental includes the standard insurance through Outdoorsy, which provides:

  • $1 million in liability coverage
  • Comprehensive and collision coverage for the RV
  • 24/7 roadside assistance

This coverage has a $1,500 deductible per occurrence, which is your responsibility in the event of a damage claim. Optional additional coverage with a lower deductible is available during the booking process.

You must provide proof of personal auto insurance at pickup, as your insurance is primary for certain types of claims.

How should I prepare for returning Frida? +

Please see the "What are the return requirements?" section under Pickup & Return for detailed information about return requirements.

In addition to those requirements, we recommend:

  • Empty the refrigerator and wipe it clean
  • Return all items to their proper location
  • Secure all cabinets and doors for travel

A basic cleaning fee is included in your rental fee, but excessive cleaning (beyond normal use) may incur additional charges against your security deposit.
